Sea shipping is a part of maritime navigation, ie economic activity whose purpose and purpose is the organized transport of passengers and goods by sea. It has always been exposed to increased attention and strict requirements of international and national regulations have been applied to it. As a special category of ships, passenger ships must meet stringent and comprehensive technical requirements regarding their stability and safety of navigation. Given the steady increase in the number of passenger ships, as well as the number of passengers, there is an increasing danger in the event of a maritime accident. At the beginning of this paper the concept and types of passenger ships are explained, which can be divided into passenger ships, RO / RO passenger ships, high speed passenger ships, cruise ships. An essential part of the work is the problem of stability and security referred to in this chapter on the Non-Corrupted Stability Code, adopted at the 18th session of the IMO Assembly Resolution A.749, and on rules for statutory certification of passenger ships in national navigation of the Republic of Croatia which was based on the Maritime Code by the Minister of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.
