Abstract
Od samog njihovog nastanka postojala je uska povezanost između matematike i pomorstva, a posebno matematike i navigacije. Navigacija kao spoj znanosti, umjetnosti i vještine vođenja broda najkraćim, najsigurnijim i najpovoljnijim putem od početka je ovisila o matematici. Razvoj matematike utjecao je na razvoj pomorstva pa se stoga može reći da se matematika i pomorstvo prate kroz povijest. Matematika se kao znanost u pomorstvu koristi za različite izračune u brodarstvu, brodogradnji, trgovini, menadžmentu i navigaciji. Sigurnost, profit i visoki stupanj automatizacije brodova, luka i terminala nikada ne bi dosegao današnju razinu bez primjene matematičkih računa. U ovom završnom radu korisnost matematike promatrat će se kroz primjenu u terestričkoj i astronomskoj navigaciji, te u projiciranju navigacijskih karata koje su uz kompas osnovno oruđe za sigurnu plovidbu svakog navigatora.
Abstract (english)
From the very beginning of their existence there was a close link between mathematics and maritime affairs, especially mathematics and navigation. Navigation as a combination of science, art and knowledge of navigating the ship in the shortest, safest and most convenient way from the beginning was dependent on math. The development of mathematics has influenced the development of maritime affairs, so it can be said that mathematics and maritime science followed each other through history. Mathematics is used in a maritime science for various calculations in shipping, shipbuilding, trade, management and navigation. Safety, profit and high level of automation of ships, ports and terminals would never reach today's levels without applying mathematical calculations. In this final project, the usefulness of mathematics will be observed through the application in terrestrial and astronomical navigation, and in the projection of navigation charts which, along with the compass, are the basic tools for safe navigation of each navigator.
