Abstract
U ovom su radu opisane geometrijske karatkeristike LNG brodova uz kratku analizu plovidbe takvih brodova u Jadranskom moru. U uvodu su opisane karatkeristike LNG plina, povijest razvoja takvih brodova, ali i geopolitički značaj njegovog razvoja, uz poseban osvrt na predloženi projekt LNG terminala na Krku. U središnjem se dijelu nalazi osvrt na geometrijske karatkeristike LNG brodova te je opisana plovidbena ruta od Otranta do Omišlja, uz poseban osvrt na utjecaj jadranskog juga na rutu. Zaključak ponovno opisuje stratešku važnost LNG terminala i pojašnjava razloge zbog kojih se plovidba takvih brodova može sigurno odvijati Jadranskim morem.
Abstract (english)
The work describes geometric characteristics of LNG carriers alongside a brief analysis of navigating such ships in the Adriatic. The introductory part describes the characteristics of natural gas and the proces of liquefying it while also describing the historical development of LNG carriers and the current geopolitical significance of using natural gas as an important source of energy. A special review of the proposed Omišalj LNG terminal is also added. The elaboration of the subject begins with detailed descriptions of LNG carrier's geometric sizes after which the Omišalj – Otrant navigational route is analysed in detail. A special review of the Adriatic southern wind „jugo“ is also elaborated in the context of its importance in navigating the Adriatic sea. The conclusion offers a description of the strategic importance of building an LNG terminal on Krk while also explaining the reasons why shipping LNG in the Adriatic is a sound proposition.
