The Neretva Delta is an area of exceptional socio-economic and natural importance for the Republic of Croatia. Its characteristics support the quality of life of the local population, constantly seeking a balance between sustainable development, especially port infrastructure, agriculture and tourism, in relation to the great natural value of local ecosystems through biodiversity and ecosystem services, such as traditional fishing and hunting. Due to the sensitivity of the ecosystem, sources of pollution from all industrial plants are of great importance, and today the terminals for liquid and bulk cargo are especially relevant, due to the pollution of water and land with coal dust and oil derivatives. Due to the richness of brackish transitional ecosystems located in the immediate vicinity of the existing liquid oil terminal, it is of particular importance to determine the outflow of commercial light petroleum products, especially in the event of an accident, in the area of terminals in the port of Ploče, for the prompt and efficient response by the authorized services. The paper will present the potential areas that will be affected by the spread of oil spills and the development of the situation over time and under the influence of specific weather conditions.
