The beginning of the oil infustry started in 19th century with the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania. Initially, liquid cargo was transferd in berrels and amphoraes, but with the time, industry has developed. Developement od the industry resulted with the progress of means of tranporting oil, so the cargo started with transfer in specialised ships or commonly known as tankers. Tankers are divided in means of construction and type of cargo that they transport. Because of the oil properities, and derivates precautions have been taken on how to properly handle oil and dangerous cargo in general. Loading, discharging of the cargo, and tank rinsing is done with the help of pipelines and pumps which facilitate the cargo handling process. Methods such as inertia and tank rinsing are also described, and the main role is to reduce risk from fire and to protect human life. Liquid leaking in the sea and polution of the sea and marine environment is prevented by the construction of the solid and impermeable hulls of the ship. The process of loading and discharging of the oil and its storage is done on specially constructed places which we call terminals. Terminals are defined as the places on the end of transport route. They serve to accomodate ships, cargo and people. Each terminal must have its own operation manual which must be available for all workers and it must be written on ''working language''. Terminals differ in purpose, size and the level of equipment found in them. Nowadays, the best possible equipment of the terminal is required, and as large an area as possible for terminal operations.
