Abstract
Morsko brodarstvo od davnina sudjeluje u formiranju svijeta kakav je danas u ekonomskom, socijalnom, kulturnom i političkom smislu. Gotovo je nezamislivo djelovanje svjetskog tržišta bez uslužno-prometnih aktivnosti morskog brodarstva. Tržište morskog brodarstva specifično je tržište koje obuhvaća ukupnost međuodnosa potražnje usluga u prijevozu dobara i ponude prijevoznog kapaciteta. S obzirom na to da je morsko brodarstvo kapitalno intenzivna i visoko specijalizirana industrija, obilježava ga visoka stopa rizika. Uz rizike uobičajene općenito za sva poduzeća, morsko brodarstvo mora se suočiti i s jedinstvenim rizicima brodarske industrije. Upravljanje rizicima u morskom brodarstvu vrlo je složen, sustavan proces čija je svrha ostvarivanje zadanih poslovnih ciljeva na strateškoj razini. Upravljanjem rizicima može se vrlo učinkovito djelovati na smanjenje nesigurnosti pri donošenju odluka. Nakon odabira strategije i implementacije odluke, poduzeće morskog brodarstva mora provoditi kontinuirani monitoring i evaluaciju primijenjenih metoda i strategije postupanja s rizikom.
Abstract (english)
Maritime shipping has been involved in the formation of the world as we know it today, in both economic, social, cultural, and political terms. Without maritime shipping services, it would be difficult to imagine what the modern global market would look like. This is a niche international market that encompasses the relationship between the demand present in goods shipping and the correlating supply. Combine this with the fact it is also a capital-intensive, highly specialized sector, and it becomes clear why it is highly prone to risk. Besides the usual risks faced by a majority of businesses, maritime shipping also involves its unique set of challenges. When it comes to running a maritime business, managing risks is a complex, systematic process whose main purpose is to anticipate and mitigate the factors standing in the way of strategic business goals. Maritime shipping businesses should continually monitor and evaluate the risk management models they have in place to gain a better understanding of their risk exposure and better prepare for the unexpected.
