Abstract
U današnjem svijetu nije moguće zamisliti bilo koji promet bez zaštite osiguranja, pa tako i pomorski promet. Standardnim osiguranjem broda pružena je zaštita trupa i stroja broda, ali nije pokrivena većina vidova brodareva osiguranja odgovornosti. Brodari su se, poučeni negativnim iskustvima, počeli učlanjivati u tzv. P.&I. klubove (Protection and Indemnity Clubs) kako bi osigurali određene rizike i štete u vezi sa plovidbom i poslovanjem broda. Svaki klub ima svoja pravila i načela, a zajedničko im je da posluju po načelu uzajamnosti te načelu „pay to be paid“.
Abstract (english)
In today's world it is not possible to imagine any traffic without the protection of insurance, also maritime traffic. The standard ship insurance provided the protection of the hull and machinery but did not cover most aspects of the shipowner's liability insurance. Shipowners, who had been taught by negative experiences, began to join in so-called P.&I. clubs (Protection and Indemnity Clubs) to secure certain risks and damages related to ship navigation and ship operations. Each club has its own rules and principles how it works, but they are common to work on the principle of reciprocity and the principle of „pay to be paid".
