An increase of international trade of goods at world level has led to the rapid development of maritime transport as the cheapest form of transportation. A direct consequence of that are the request of the shipowners for more ships which have higher carrying capacity and that has resulted in the development of new technologies and the appliance of new materials in their construction. At the same time, the requirements of the legislative regulations related to the safety at sea and to the protection of the marine environment from pollution from ships have increased. The ship is used for the transport in territorial waters of many countries, so for that reasons it should be satisfy the requirements of the international regulations and it also has to satisfy the regulation of national legislative. To avoid too many differences between the national regulations of individual states, the International Maritime Organization has adopted international conventions that must necessarily apply to ships of all countries involved in international maritime transport. In order to ensure the safety of the ship and to perform its functions, the technical requirements of the statutory certification of ships are prescribed and adopted mostly by the classification societies as Recognized Organization in accordance with conventions and national regulations. In this paper, special emphasis is placed on the importance of carrying out the prescribed technical controls for the inspection of the ship and its devices, equipment and machinery in the prescribed deadline in order to issue or certify the statutory documents, that confirming that the ship is capable of sailing and performing its function. In the paper is processed as an example of the display of the actions that must be performed when survey the boilers, and in accordance with the applicable requirements set out in the rules for the technical supervision of ships.
