Abstract
Obalna straža ima važnu funkciju nadzora pomorskog suvereniteta granica određene države. Njome se jamči sigurnost građana i dobara, sprečavaju ilegalni prodori u državu, kao i kriminalne radnje i eksploatacija prirode. Značajni primjeri obalnih straža u svijetu su Sjedinjene Američke Države, Francuska i Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo. Republika Hrvatska pokušava održati korak sa modernim državama u pogledu zakonske regulative i tehnologije, svjesna koliki je njezin značaj na kontinentu Europe i unutar zajednice Europske Unije. U radu su se koristile odgovarajuće znanstveno istraživačke metode. Doprinos ovog rada je pregledni uvid u razvoj značajnih obalnih straža u Svijetu, te upoznavanje s modelom obalne straže Republike Hrvatske. Ključne
Abstract (english)
The Coast Guard has an important function of overseeing the maritime sovereignty of a certain country. It guarantees the security of citizens and goods, preventing illegal penetration into the state, as well as criminal activities and exploitation of nature. Significant examples of coastal guards in the world are the United States, France and the United Kingdom. The Republic of Croatia is trying to keep up with modern states in terms of legislation and technology, aware of its importance on the continent of Europe and within the European Union.
